(3” pot) Eupatorium perfoliatum - A member of the aster family, boneset is a herbaceous perennial, flowering creamy white and growing up to 4 feet. Also called thoroughwort, it grows on low, moist ground in sun to part shade often forming small colonies in abandoned fields and around margins of streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes. Seeds are short-lived, with poor germination, so although a prolific seed-producer, boneset is not a big spreader. A host plant for 42 different butterflies and moths, it blooms through the end of the summer and beyond so is a good pollinating plant. Traditional use: Bitter stimulant to immune response for flu, common cold, bronchitis, chronic cough, pneumonia.
